Protecting vacation homes present special challenges. For example, if there is no phone line then the alarm system cannot be monitored.
Problem: No phone line available for the vacation home.
RemoteGuard Solution: As long as there is cellular reception RemoteGuard will be able to send video footage and alarm alert information to the monitoring station.
Problem: No police force to respond in the vacation home area.
RemoteGuard Solution: RemoteGuard Video Sentries detect intruders and send videos of the intrusions to the monitoring station. If police response is not available there are several different ways to deter intrusions:
- RemoteGuard signage warns the intruders that video cameras are protecting the home. Criminal intruders prefer to keep their anonymity to themselves. They don’t want contact with people or cameras during an intrusion.
- Should the intruder(s) break in, the video cameras will capture images of the intruder/s for later identification and possible arrest. Many vacation home locations have a small population making it easier to narrow down intruder suspects.
- Extra outdoor siren/strobes can be installed which will attract attention to the vacation home when an intrusion occurs.
- Vacation home neighbours can be notified by the monitoring station staff to check on the property when the alarm is activated.
- Outdoor Video Sentries can be mounted on poles or trees to detect a vehicle or intruder on foot entering the driveway. The Video Sentries can be programmed to work in covert mode (siren off) to capture images of the intruder and/or their vehicle for later identification and possible arrest. Conversely, the Video Sentries can be programmed to be in regular mode (siren on) and activate a loud siren noise well before the vehicle gets close to the vacation home. This strategy can act as a good deterrent.
Problem: Freezing temperatures can cause serious damage to pipes.
RemoteGuard Solution: RemoteGuard can add high-low temperature sensors that will alert you when the temperature is too low. For example, you can be alerted when the pipes are at risk to freeze. Fixing the problem before the pipes burst would save a big repair bill. Similarly, the high-low temperature sensors will warn you if there is fire in your vacation home.
